Taylor got into music early on.

Take it from Tay-Tay, it’s never too soon to start pursuing your passion and working toward your big dreams. At nine years old, Taylor first started taking singing lessons. She credits other incredible artists like Joni Mitchell and Shania Twain as a couple of her earliest influences. Listen to a story about Joni Mitchell on the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls Podcast.

She rerecorded four of her original albums.

Taylor didn’t have the opportunity to purchase her original recordings from the record label that owned them, but she didn’t let that stop her. Beginning in 2020, she rerecorded her original albums, calling each of them “Taylor’s Version.” So far, she’s released Fearless, Speak Now, Red, and 1989, with two more to come.

Her cats are famous.

Olivia Benson, Meredith Grey, and Benjamin Button are not only famous fictional characters, but they’re also the names of Taylor’s cats. It’s clear that she’s a proud cat mom and these furry animal friends hold a special place in her heart. She’s featured them in her music videos, on magazine covers, and in her song lyrics.

In 2024, she made Grammy history.

Taylor Swift has made record-breaking moves throughout her career. In 2024, she received her fourth Album of the Year award for Midnight. She is the first woman to break this record, and the first artist ever in Grammy history!

Her favorite number is 13.

Although there are superstitions about the number 13 being unlucky, Taylor Swift has claimed it as her favorite. In 2009, she explained that the number holds significance for her personally and professionally — she turned 13 on Friday the 13th, and her first album went gold for 13 weeks.

She gives back to the community.

In addition to being a musical superstar, Taylor is known for giving back to the community. During her Eras Tour, she made several donations to food banks across the United States, and it appears that those charitable acts were gifts that kept on giving. She inspired others to make contributions and brought additional awareness to the cause.

She has 10 albums (and counting).

Throughout her career, Taylor has released 10 original albums, and she is not done yet. Her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department is coming out on April 19, 2024. Her musical journey has been an inspiring one. Learn more about her by visiting Rebel Girls’ “Taylor Swift: Dreaming in Lyrics”.
